We’re ready for the Nedbank Golf Challengeon November 10, 2011
In less than 20 days, eight of the world’s top senior professionals will contest the 2011 Nedbank Senior Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City from 1 December – 4 December. We decided to chat to Antonie Els, Golf Director at Sun City about the Final Round that took place earlier this week and about current course conditions.
“We hosted a very successful Final Round and we received a lot of positive feedback about the course” says Antonie Els, Golf Director at Sun City. “We are still down on rainfall for the season and in the middle of a heat wave, but I am positive that the current course conditions will improve.” Els added that the greens were in excellent condition and already running at 10,5 on the Stimp meter. He was hopeful that by the start of the tournament, it would reach 11,5. Els also added that the rough is still “sitting down”, but with some rainfall predicted next week, it should be up to 75mm by the 1st of December 2011.
“All areas are repaired and recovering well after the new irrigation system was installed. The new system is now providing full coverage of all playing areas and allowing us to deal with the heat and lack of rainfall.” says Els.
The Gary Player course is now closed for play.
