Close, but no car for daring Dane.on November 12, 2016
SUN CITY, North West (12 November 2016) – Lasse Jensen added to a thrilling second round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player with his albatross on the par-five 14th. But unfortunately for the Dane, it didn’t earn him one of the many Volvo cars on offer as prizes.
Volvo Car South Africa is a partner of “Africa’s Major” for the 15th year, supplying vehicles for all forms of transport at the event – including VIP shuttles, player shuttles, inclement weather transfer vehicles and hotel courtesy cars – through a 40-strong fleet of Volvo XC90 and XC60 cars.
The professionals can also win one of four brand new Volvos.
The first player to record a hole-in-one at the par-three 16th hole will win a new Volvo S90. For eagles on the 17th and 18th holes, the players can win one of two XC90 cars.
And the first albatross also wins a Volvo V40 Cross Country, but unfortunately for Jensen this applies on the par-five ninth hole.
“My playing partner Andy Sullivan was the first to point that out. Thanks Andy,” said a smiling Jensen.
What made his albatross even more impressive is that it came as his first shot after a delay because of lightning.
“I had hit a great drive and had 245 metres to the green. Then we had the weather delay, so we went in and had a bit of lunch. When we got back out I hit a great shot and it went in. There was this guy in a red shirt who just jumped so high when it went in – it was so funny.”
