Kaymer helps young boy reach for his dream
on December 5, 2013On the eve of the first round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Martin Kaymer lit up the famous Sun City Christmas tree as per tradition for the defending champion. But it was nothing compared to how he lit up the face of a nine-year-old boy.
Samuel Pereira is attending his first Nedbank Golf Challenge as part of his wish through the Reach for a Dream Foundation.
Pereira suffers from several brain tumours. But his passion for golf is what saw the foundation team up with Sun International to bring him to his first Nedbank Golf Challenge, and experience the best of “Africa’s Major”.
He was treated to his first pair of golf shoes from The Pro Shop, and met Kaymer as well as helped him turn on the Christmas tree lights.
As he told his mother afterwards, “I don’t need any Christmas presents after this”.
