Major champs to turn out for Player charity eventon July 8, 2014
A glittering line-up including three current Major champions and four former Nedbank Golf Challenge champions will make for one of the strongest fields ever assembled for a Gary Player Invitational tournament when the European leg of the South African golf icon’s worldwide charity series is played at Wentworth in England this month.
US Open champion Martin Kaymer, who is expected to return to Sun City at the end of this year to try and add to his 2012 Nedbank Golf Challenge victory, will be joined at Wentworth from 20-21 July by Player, reigning US PGA Championship champion Jason Dufner, Rickie Fowler, Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Branden Grace, Jason Day, Fred Couples, Darren Clarke, Louis Oosthuizen, Ian Woosnam, reigning Evian Championship champion Suzann Pettersen and other professionals as well as celebrities.
“I’m thrilled to be joined by so many of my peers from the world of golf, including so many stars across different generations and nationalities,” said Player.
“This is a gathering of pros that any event worldwide would clearly love to have, and I am very grateful to each of them for their support as we strive to continue to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.”
The South African leg of the Gary Player Invitational will be played at the Lost City Golf Club in November.
