Michael Vlismas has worked in journalism for over two decades, covering major events such as the Rugby World Cup, the All Africa Games, the FINA Swimming World Cup, the Tri-Nations rugby, the British Open, Masters and US Open golf, the Presidents Cup golf, the South African Open tennis and a host of others. He has worked as a correspondent for major news agencies such as Reuters and the South African Press Association, as well as all of the major radio stations and print publications in South Africa.Abroad he has worked for BBC Radio, Talk Sport Radio, PGA Tour radio, and major newspapers such as the Daily Telegraph and The Scotsman. He also served as the South African correspondent for GolfWeek magazine in the United States, writing a column for the publication for two years, and is currently the Africa correspondent for Global Golf Post. He writes a weekly column in The Pretoria News, the capital newspaper of South Africa.
In 2012 Michael launched South Africa’s first digital golf magazine and APP, Golflinks. As a published author, he recently completed a book with Gary Player called Don’t Choke. He also co-wrote Challenging Beliefs, the official autobiography of Professor Tim Noakes, one of the world’s foremost sports scientists and which is currently on the bestseller list in South Africa. He has just completed The Extraordinary Book of South African Golf, available in English and Afrikaans. Michael was voted the 2010 Telkom Golf Journalist of the Year in South Africa.
